Size Guide
Step 1 of 2
Take two quick measurements
Your smartCRUTCH size is based on your forearm length — because your weight is carried through your forearm, not your hands. Your floor-to-elbow height confirms the crutch adjusts to suit you. You’ll need a tape measure and a helper makes it easier.
A. Floor-to-elbow height
- Stand up straight wearing the shoes you’ll use most.
- Let your arms hang relaxed at your sides.
- Measure straight up from the floor to the point of your elbow.

B. Forearm length
- Bend your elbow to roughly 90 degrees.
- Measure from the back of your elbow along your forearm to the base of your hand.
- Optional: also measure around the widest part of your forearm (cuff circumference) — helpful if you land between sizes.

Measure in centimetres if you can — the size finder below accepts cm or inches.
Step 2 of 2
Find your size
Size is about fit — not bulk
Your size matches your forearm; every size then adjusts to your height. Choosing Large doesn’t mean a bigger, heavier crutch.

~1 kg
Every size weighs virtually the same — 1001 g (S), 1004 g (M), 1007 g (L) per crutch.
10
Height positions on every size — the legs adjust to you, whatever platform size fits your arm.
140 kg
Same strength, every size — 140 kg non-weight-bearing, 120 kg weight-bearing (S, M and L).

Fine-tune your fit
Choosing your size gets you 90% of the way. These built-in adjustments do the rest:
Platform angle: 15°–90°
The forearm platform rotates from a near-vertical forearm-crutch position through to a horizontal platform. A locking spline holds your chosen angle securely. Lower angles suit active walking; higher angles take pressure completely off the hands and wrists.

Height: 10 push-pin positions
Adjust the leg length so the crutch meets your elbow height with your shoulders relaxed — not hunched. Tip: most people set smartCRUTCH slightly higher than they’d expect from ordinary crutches.
Forearm length: 3 positions
Fine-tune where the platform sits along your forearm so your hand lands naturally on the grip.
Ergonomic left/right grips
Grips are offset 7° and shaped specifically for left and right hands, matching your natural wrist position. Crutches can be converted between sides.
Signs your setup needs adjusting
Hunched shoulders or a tight neck usually mean the crutches are set too low. Pressure on your hands means the platform angle is too shallow — rotate it higher. Keep your elbows close to your sides and place the feet slightly forward and outward (about 45°). Expect the first 20 minutes to feel different from ordinary crutches — that’s normal, and it settles quickly.
